Nebraska Department of Education, Midwest Dairy Council and Hunger Free Heartland encourage you to get involved during National School Breakfast Week, March 6-10th! Celebrate school breakfast by joining us in this year’s theme – “Take the School Breakfast Challenge”! The School Nutrition Association has a ton of great resources on their website and toolkit to make it a fun week for all. All Nebraska schools are challenged to join in the fun to raise awareness of your school breakfast program and win prizes!
Here’s what to do:
1. Opt in by February 24, 2017 by registering here. The first 20 schools to register will receive a few goodies to help get the fun started- stickers, pins, posters!
2. Show us how you educate others about the importance of school breakfast. Some ideas are presentations to the school board or community, include a short article in your school newsletter, or post information on your school’s Facebook or Twitter page. Share the importance of school breakfast in your own creative way!
3. Lastly, participate in our photo challenge by posting a picture to social media using #NENSBW2017 or email your photo to firstname.lastname@example.org. Don’t forget to include your NSBW goodies!
All schools who participate in National School Breakfast Week, enroll here, and send in a photo from their efforts will be entered into a random drawing for one of five cool prizes! Winners will be announced the week of March 13th!
Feel free to customize this handout to include in your parent newsletter
